Fast-food workers strike, citing low wages: 'It's not enough'
Thu Apr 4, 2013
Yet another example of people not taking responsibility for the negative consequences of their own choices. I've had to recover from some bad choices myself and it wasn't easy, but in the long run it was worth it. It is so much easier to blame someone else and then expect sympathy and expect someon …
Arlington Cemetery pic sparks outrage, calls for woman's firing
Wed Nov 21, 2012
"...as for Stone's photo, the Old Guard said, it deserves no futher comment". The heros in that cemetary DIED to ensure her right to be self-centered, childish and disrespectful to others. When a child is not taught 'proper' behavior by the parents this is what you end up with. The evidence is all a …
Rape victim 'shocked' when court ordered her computer records
Wed Oct 10, 2012
I don't know about Oregon, but in Ohio it is forbidden to bring up the defendant's past in a rape case but the defense can drag the victim through the mud. Why should a woman get raped a second time (by the 'system') for pressing charges on the guy that stuck his privates where they didn't belong?
Cop drags woman, 77, from car after ID refusal
Thu Sep 13, 2012
The officer would have listened to her excuse AFTER seeing her ID. She was only wanting to try and avoid responsibility for speeding.
What the high court will decide -- and what the aftermath will be
Wed Jun 27, 2012
After finding a way to reduce premiums to a more reasonable cost, I believe the issue that must be addressed is the number of people without insurance and without the ability to pay who then demand care. If someone chooses to spend money on cell phones, satelite TV and dinners out instead of insura …
Woman challenges bone marrow donation law in effort to save daughters' lives
Wed Jun 13, 2012
I wanted to sign up to be a donor but was told but our local blood bank/donor registrar "We don't need any more white donors - we need black donors - so we won't sign you up or test you".
He 'quit money' and is still living a happy life
Wed May 2, 2012
"There is surely a happy medium where you can..." There is - it's called 'choice'. If you choose that everyone in the family will have their own car, smart phone, TV, satelite/cable hook-up, credit card... that takes a lot of money. Then (usually) Moms & Dads are slaves to the pursuit o …
Mammograms offer limited help
Thu Sep 23, 2010
I have 'fibrocystic breast tissue' - a.k.a. 'lumpy bumpy boobs' - and have been getting mammograms since age 27 after a benign lump was found. Until age 40 I got a mammo every 3 years. From age 40-50 every other year. At age 50 a lump was seen on my mammo that was biopsied and found to be cancer. T …
Tasered teen called dad for OK to run on field
Tue May 4, 2010
craigF1998 - how dare you speak to one of our military folks with such disrespect! He and his comrades are willing to go to hell and back for us. My husband and I both have 'youthful indescretions' and what keeps it fun and memorable is knowing when to stop. 17 is not exactly a 'child' and the youn …
Who do you hold more responsible for bullying?
Thu Apr 1, 2010
I think kids need to learn many things in kindergarten and elementary school. One is to stand up for themselves and another is that if you bully someone you might get a punch in the nose. Let them do this when they are young and no one gets seriously hurt. Prevent this and frustration, anger, intim …

Should 6-year-old be suspended for bringing utensil to school?
Any blanket policy, such as 'Zero Tolerance', is a crutch for those who are ineffective leaders. Whether it is in school, business or government blanket policies are put into place to avoid dealing with the real 'trouble makers' and the ever present lawyers. We have all seen ridiculous examples of …
Are you so old and crotchety that you have no rememberance of the thrill of having a new 'gizmo' to play with? He got the camping tool to eat with while camping and liked it, thought it was 'cool' or thought it made him feel like an outdoors man. Whatever. A normal, well behaved child would not thin …
